Palm City, Florida - July 20, 2015 - STS Component Solutions, a division of STS Aviation Group, successfully acquires an LM6000PD Aeroderivative Gas Turbine engine. This is the company's first LM6000 series engine purchase in 2015.
The General Electric LM6000 is a turboshaft gas turbine, derived from the CF6-80C2 aircraft turbofan. It has additions and modifications designed to make it more suitable for marine propulsion, industrial power generation and marine power generation use.
"This LM6000 asset purchase represents another exciting milestone for STS Component Solutions," says Tom Covella, Group President of STS Component Solutions. "When we launched our Ground Power business in 2014, our goal was to acquire assets and establish STS as a global supplier of aeroderivative components and services. This acquisition further substantiates our commitment to this market and will enable us to broaden our support levels to our aeroderivative customers."
The asset is currently in Germany being disassembled, and all components will then be recertified and made available for sale.
