NEWARK, CA--(Marketwired - July 21, 2015) - Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiaryMorpho Detection, today announced the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has ordered five CTX™explosives detection systems (EDS) valued at $6 million.

Part of a five-year standing offer announced in 2013, Morpho Detection recently delivered two compact CTX 5800™ and will supply three high-speed CTX 9800 DSi™ EDS to screen hold baggage at airports in Canada later this year. To date, this standing offer has resulted in 19 CTX 5800 and 20 CTX 9800 being delivered and installed at airports throughout Canada.

"Morpho Detection is pleased CATSA continues to recognize our CTX family of EDS as having the detection and operational capabilities to meet growing passenger traffic and security demands," said Karen Bomba, president and CEO, Morpho Detection. "From the high-speed CTX 9800 to the compact CTX 5800, Morpho Detection's CTX EDS give airports of all sizes the ability to deploy an automated checked baggage screening program and increase ROI on security investments."

Morpho Detection's CTX EDS use advanced Computed Tomography (CT) technology to screen checked baggage in the most challenging airport environments. Capable of screening more than 1,000 bags per hour (BPH), Morpho Detection's high-speed CTX 9800enhances operational efficiencies by screening bags faster and with fewer false alarms. Designed to allow small- and mid-sized airports plan for evolving threats and future expansion, CTX 5800 combines industry-leading imaging and data collection in a smaller and lighter solution.

Both CTX 5800 and CTX 9800 are certified by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) as meeting European Union Standard 3 requirements.
