The approval gives Airbus and its supply chain access to the testing capability close to its primary manufacturing facilities in the region.

Exova, the global testing, calibration and advisory services provider, has been given approval by Airbus to conduct ASTM E238 Bearing testing of metallic materials for the aircraft manufacturer and its supply chain.

The work will be conducted by Exova’s specialist laboratory at the heart of the European Aerospace Cluster in Toulouse, France. The approval gives Airbus and its supply chain access to the testing capability close to its primary manufacturing facilities in the region.

ASTM Bearing testing is an instrumental technique in the aerospace industry to determine the bearing yield strength as well as the bearing strength. The data generated from the test provides a measure of the load-carrying capacity of a material.

Paul Fournet, general manager of Exova, Toulouse said: “Exova Toulouse is one of only four laboratories in the world and the only one in France to receive Airbus approval for ASTM Bearing testing. This approval underlines our commitment to the provision of technically demanding services to the aerospace industry and to assisting the advancement of the latest aerospace materials and production processes.”
