June 18, 2015, Los Angeles—Registration for Build A Plane’s annual Teachers’ Day is now open via the organization’s website, BuildAPlane.org. This free event brings teachers together from across the nation to examine ways of using aviation to motivate kids to learn science, math, engineering and technology and is held each year on the show grounds during EAA’s AirVenture.

Dick Rutan, pilot of the Voyager, the first plane to fly nonstop around the world, will be on hand to share his own childhood aspirations to fly.

This year Teachers’ Day is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 8:30am until noon and will take place the EAA’s Nature Center.

“What a great opportunity to network with other teachers and aviation professionals,” Albuquerque school teacher and Build A Plane’s executive director Debbie Phillips said.

Now in its sixth year, Build A Plane’s Teachers’ Day provides teachers with information and ideas from a variety of aviation organizations, including AOPA, EAA, GAMA, and the National Air & Space Museum.

“Teachers’ Day is free and open to any teacher who’d like to attend,” Phillips continued. “By participating in the morning event, teachers get free admittance to AirVenture compliments of EAA, as well as a free lunch and free parking.  We want to see you there!”  Participants can register at BuildAPlane.org.

Build A Plane is a non-profit organization that gives kids a chance to build real airplanes, placing more than 200 general aviation aircraft into schools across the United States since 2003.
