Gulfstream's Ira Berman Receives Burton Award, Named Legend in Law

SAVANNAH, Georgia, June 16, 2015 — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced that Ira Berman, senior vice president, Administration and general counsel, was named a Legend in Law by The Burton Awards Program, which is held in association with the Library of Congress and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association.

Burton awardees are selected for their reputation, background and experience; their demonstrated competence in a specialized area of law; the complexity and scope of the matters they handled; their success in global and national issues; and their exemplary leadership.

Berman graduated in 1986 from New York University School of Law. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.

He joined Gulfstream in 1997. Since then, Berman’s role has grown to include responsibility for the following areas: Legal; Human Resources; Environmental Health and Safety; Real Estate and Facilities; Security; Risk Management; Government Contracts; and Trade Compliance. He is also a corporate vice president of General Dynamics, Gulfstream’s parent company.

Berman serves on the boards of directors for Memorial Health, Union Mission and Goodwill of the Coastal Empire. He previously served on the boards of the Bethesda Academy, the United Way of the Coastal Empire and the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity.

The Burton awardees are chosen from nominations received from managing partners of the nation’s 1,000 largest law firms. Berman was nominated by HunterMaclean, a law firm with offices in Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia.
