Aircelle Announces New Appointments to its Leadership Team

Pierre Jorant has been named VP of Programs, Gilles Poilvet has been named VP of Administration and Finance, Francis Gauvain has been named VP of Human Resources and facilities and Philippe James has been named Continuos Improvement VP

Aircelle (Safran) announces four appointments to its leadership team: Pierre Jorant has been named Vice President of Programs, Gilles Poilvet has been named Vice President of Administration and Finance, Francis Gauvain has been named Vice President of Human Resources and facilities and Philippe James has been named Continuous Improvement Vice President of Aircelle.

Pierre Jorant continues a career within Safran that began in 2008. He was named in 2011 as General Manager of the Sichuan Services Aero-Engine Maintenance Company – a joint venture between CFM International and Air China located in Chengdu, China; and earlier was Sagem’s Vice President for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Previously, Pierre Jorant spent 20 years at the French CNES national space agency – with key responsibilities for the Ariane launcher program. He graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique (1980) and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace, and holds an Executive MBA from HEC.

Gilles Poilvet has worked at Aircelle since 2002.  He served as the company’s Financial Controller, and was integrated in the Aircelle Executive Committee in 2006 as External Supply Chain Vice President. From 2010, Gilles Poilvet has been the company’s Vice President of Programs. He began his career at the Mazars financial auditing company, and joined the Valeo group in 1995 in management control.  Gilles Poilvet worked for the L’Oréal group as the Financial Director for one of its industrial subsidiaries. He is a graduate of HEC.

Francis Gauvain, has been with Safran companies since 1981. He joined the technical department, occupying various functions (test engineer for ground and airborne testing, along with responsibilities for physical measurements). In 1996, he was assigned responsibility for the Instrumentation and Measures Department, followed three years later by his appointment as the Engineering Department Head for test methods. He transitioned to human resources in 2004, becoming Director of Human Resources for Snecma’s Industrial Direction, and Director of the company’s Villaroche, France site in 2007. In 2010, was named Deputy for the Snecma Human Resources Department. Francis Gauvain is a graduate of the Université de Technologie de Compiègne, and received a Master’s Degree in acoustics.

Philippe James has been the Snecma’s Project Manager for the Vinci rocket engine’s development, and Head of the Combustion Devices Design Department. As part of his career development, James completed Black Belt training in the Lean Six Sigma business improvement methodology while participating in the Ariane 6 launcher’s definition for Safran and Airbus Group. He is a graduate of the Ecole Centrale Paris and holds a PhD in acoustics from Southampton University (UK).
