May 8, 2015
They have signed an agreement for the repair and maintenance of LAN Cargo's fleet of cargo containers and pallets at Miami International Airport.

LAN Cargo, the largest air cargo carrier in Latin America, and CHEP Aerospace Solutions, the outsourced ULD management and repair solutions provider, have signed an agreement for the repair and maintenance of LAN Cargo's fleet of cargo containers and pallets at Miami International Airport.

The agreement will enable LAN Cargo to benefit from CHEP's comprehensive repair solutions including access to CHEP's proprietary repair management software, ACTIS, at LAN Cargo's hub stations. ACTIS has been employed at 29 repair stations owned and managed by CHEP, in addition to several subcontracted repair shops across the globe, and provides CHEP's customers with real-time insight into the repair status of their assets.

LAN Cargo Operational Support Senior Manager, Orlando Gaete, said: "We are pleased to have entered into this agreement with CHEP as the guaranteed quality and airworthiness of our cargo equipment will enable us to strengthen our position in Miami. We also appreciate that CHEP's repair management software ACTIS will provide us with full visibility on parts usage, labour costs and repair turnaround times. As we work towards our corporate goals to improve operational efficiency and further reduce CO2 emission, repairing our damaged ULDs in the United States rather than shipping them back to South America will help us increase cargo capacity and reduce fuel burn and carbon emission. We are confident that CHEP is the right partner for our needs and look forward to our cooperation."

CHEP Aerospace Solutions President, Dr. Ludwig Bertsch, said: "We are delighted to welcome LAN Cargo to our ever-expanding portfolio of global repair and ULD management customers, and are committed to providing high quality of repair service with improved asset utilisation and increased flexibility that will enable LAN Cargo to focus on its core business of flying cargo. Our recent contract wins with renowned airlines including Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Air France demonstrates the value of our asset management expertise and global repair network and we look forward to our new partnership with LAN Cargo."
