New Century, Kan. – CAV Ice Protection, manufacturer of the TKS® Ice Protection System, today announced the launch of a new line of CAV Ice Protection brand TKS 406B in-flight ice protection fluid. Owners of aircraft with the TKS Ice Protection System can purchase the product at the online store or by calling the company.

Comprised of ethylene glycol, TKS fluid exudes from the TKS Ice Protection System, laser-drilled titanium panels on the leading edges of the wings, horizontal and tail surfaces. A traditional slinger-ring provides ice protection on the propeller. Dependent on whether the TKS Ice Protection system is inadvertent or FIKI-certified, the windshield is protected by either one or two on-demand pumps. For FIKI-certified systems, a backup mode is provided. Working as a freezing point depressant, with a freezing point below -76°F (-60°C),TKS fluid flows over the protected surfaces and keeps the aircraft virtually ice-free.

Minimum upkeep of the TKS Ice Protection System is required. As the TKS system is used, the fluid flushes out any accumulation of debris on the panels. Glycol has cleaning properties and will not harm the paint finish of the aircraft. There is also no performance loss; only significant ice protection capabilities are added.

“We take pride in providing the general aviation community with an effective ice protection system,” said Jerry Jordan, Vice President of Engineering. “Having our own brand of TKS fluid lets us monitor how the product is manufactured and ensure a high standard of quality.”

TKS 406B in-flight ice protection fluid is available globally wherever CAV Ice Protection holds rights. 1 gallon, 2.5 gallon and 5 gallon fluid sizes are available online to consumers at this time. Due to varied shipping costs, consumers will need to contact the company to purchase the larger 30 gallon, 55 gallon and 275 gallon fluid.

“In addition to the recent opening of the TKS Repair Station, the capability to provide our customers with CAV Ice Protection brand TKS fluid at a competitive price helps further our goal of being a one-stop shop for TKS,” said Jeff Holden, Sales Manager.
