New Board Leadership Begins Tenure At Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority

City of Raleigh resident Richard “Dickie” Thompson today assumed the role of chairman of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board of Directors

City of Raleigh resident Richard “Dickie” Thompson today assumed the role of chairman of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board of Directors. The board met today for its monthly meeting.

“It is an honor to serve as the chairman of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority board,” said Thompson. “I thank my fellow board members for their confidence in me, and I look forward to working with the talented Airport Authority staff that has made RDU the world-class airport it is today.”

Thompson, who has served on the board since 2012, recently served as vice-chair, as well as chairman of the airport’s finance committee. Thompson is currently executive vice president at J.M Thompson Company and succeeds Tommy Hunt of Durham County as board chair.

Joining Thompson on the board’s leadership team are Farad Ali of the City of Durham as Vice Chair, John M. Kane of Wake County as Secretary and Robert D. Teer of City of Durham as Treasurer. In addition to Tommy Hunt of Durham County, the following representatives also serve on the board: Adrienne Cole, City of Raleigh; Patrick Hannah, Durham County; Lawrence R. Zucchino, Wake County.

RDU is governed by an eight-member board. The cities of Durham and Raleigh and the counties of Durham and Wake each appoint two members to the board for two-year terms.
