The company finalized a 10-year concession agreement with the Macau Airport Authority for 4,000 square meters of a new hangar built specifically for business aviation maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul (MRO) purposes.

ZURICH / April 14, 2015 – Jet Aviation recently won a tender agreement to operate a business aviation MRO facility at Macau International Airport. The company finalized a 10-year concession agreement with the Macau Airport Authority for 4,000 square meters of a new hangar built specifically for business aviation maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul (MRO) purposes.

Jet Aviation recently won the public tender to manage and operate an MRO business for private jets from the airport’s new purpose-built hangar. The Macau International Airport issued the Request for Proposals in December 2013. A 10-year concession agreement between Jet Aviation and the Macau Airport Authority (CAM - Sociedade do Aeroporto Internacional de Macau S.A.R.L.) has also been finalized. Jet Aviation will lease half of the new 8,000 square-meter hangar in addition to 1,000 square meters of workshop and office space.

“Asia is an important and growing market for business aviation,” said Stefan Benz, vice president of Jet Aviation MRO and FBO Operations, EMEA & Asia. “This is an excellent opportunity for Jet Aviation to expand its global MRO network to deliver world-class business aviation services in a region where other airports are experiencing high-demand and congestion.”

The new MRO facility will operate as Jet Aviation Macao, with operations expected to commence in August 2015. Jet Aviation Macao will provide maintenance, aircraft cleaning and parking services for business jets at Macau International Airport. Jet Aviation will add Macau to its Gulfstream and Dassault Authorized Service Center (ASC) approvals. It will also extend its EASA and FAA 145 approvals to cover Macau and gain Part 145 approval for the Civil Aviation Authority of the Macao Special Administrative Region (AACM).

“This purpose-built hangar represents a significant investment on the part of governing agencies and authorities in Macau,” said Jet Aviation Group President Rob Smith. “It is exactly the kind of infrastructure required to sustain growing demand for business aviation services in the region and will ultimately better ensure the safety and security of the larger business aviation community. We greatly appreciate the support of Macau’s Airport and Civil Aviation authorities, and we look forward to working with them for years to come.”
