FACC Enters Into New Business Area Repair and Maintenance

April 13, 2015
FACC has been a leading company specialized in the development and production of composite components and systems for over 25 years and is now expanding its range of competencies to include repair and maintenance.

Ried – FACC AG is extending its activities in the field of maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO) in civil aviation. FACC offers airlines and MRO companies a tailor-made service for maintenance activities and repairs on components and systems. For the purpose of expanding the company's global presence in repair and maintenance, another plant has been established in Wichita/USA in addition to the main factory in Austria.

FACC has been a leading company specialized in the development and production of composite components and systems for over 25 years and is now expanding its range of competencies to include repair and maintenance. The company has thus become one of the few manufacturers of composite lightweight components in the aerospace supply industry which also provides MRO services. The long-standing partnership with the OEMs gives FACC the great advantage over pure service providers - FACC can rely on the proven performance of the OEM supply chain performing maintenance services more economically and faster.

The highly efficient infrastructure in Austria and the USA provides the company with the technical prerequisites for carrying out maintenance activities and repairs on the structural components of wings, tail units, or engines, as well as in the aircraft cabin. Apart from the maintenance certifications (Part 145 for EASA, TCCA and FAA) that the company has had for years and the approval attained last year as a design organization (EASA Part 21-J), FACC provides a full range of maintenance services together with its extensive component portfolio. Above and beyond the approved repair limitations, the company is now also authorized to independently develop and approve design solutions for repairs and modifications.

"Due to our extensive engineering and manufacturing expertise and longstanding collaboration with all the major aircraft manufacturers, we are a reliable partner for airlines and MRO stations when it comes to component maintenance," says Walter Stephan, CEO of FACC AG. "As an OEM supplier, we ensure that repair and maintenance activities are entirely in compliance with our customers' requirements. The use of designs, specifications, and tools of the original component, along with the availability of replacement parts, enables swift implementation and optimum pricing."

The new subsidiary in Wichita, FACC Solutions Inc., started operations in 2014. The company is another building block in FACC's strategy of expanding its global presence and providing services close to the customer. Through this expansion, the capacity for maintenance services and repair activities is enhanced enabling increased efficiency and cost optimization on the one hand, while ensuring quick customer service of a high quality on the other.

"With the growing use of composite materials in aircraft construction, the demand for well qualified, highly efficient maintenance organizations is increasing in the USA. With the investments made and the network of FACC AG as its parent company, FACC Solutions Inc. has created an excellent position for itself in this market," says Dean Poor, President of FACC Solutions Inc. "Proximity to the customer, a high level of quality, reliability, and short lead times are the prerequisites for successful positioning in this expanding market."
