Rockwell Collins Expands Information Management Offerings with Acquisition of Pacific Avionics

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (March 23, 2015) - Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) has acquired Pacific Avionics Pty. Limited, a Singapore-based company specializing in technologies used for wireless information distribution, including inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC).

“This acquisition builds on our overall information management strategy by enabling wireless distribution of digital information aboard the aircraft,” said Kelly Ortberg, CEO and President of Rockwell Collins. 

Pacific Avionics’ powerful wireless cabin intranet and internet connectivity platform will be integrated into Rockwell Collins’ portfolio of cabin products and services, bringing airlines a number of advanced capabilities, including:

  • The ability to stream video content to more than 250 passengers simultaneously
  • A flexible architecture to support a wide array of apps and services
  • Faster wireless speeds onboard the aircraft
