New Training Options in NDT Predictive Technologies Offered Through NIAR/WATC Partnership

Jan. 29, 2015
The new courses can be taken individually or collectively toward an associate’s degree or technical certificate from WATC. Each class lasts one week.

Wichita’s National Center for Aviation Training has added a new aviation technical training program for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Predictive Technologies. The courses are offered through a partnership between Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research and Wichita Area Technical College (WATC).

The Predictive Technologies program is based on technologies and NDT methods that assess the condition of industrial equipment. Predictive technologies include Vibration Analysis, Lubricating Fluid Analysis, Thermography, Acoustic Emission Testing, and Electric Motor Circuit Analysis. These preventative maintenance technologies aid in predicting equipment lifespan by assigning failure levels to operating equipment. Asset condition is used to schedule maintenance, ensuring asset health while lowering down time and unnecessary maintenance.

The new courses can be taken individually or collectively toward an associate’s degree or technical certificate from WATC.  Each class lasts one week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Classes are held in the evenings during the summer semester and last two weeks per class. For specifics on course offerings visit the WATC website.

The Predictive Technologies program is a part of the Nondestructive Test Lab, which offers NDT training and NDT and Oil Analysis test services.
