Menzies Signs Contracts To Provide Service In New Zealand, UK

Jan. 13, 2015

Menzies Aviation has signed a new, 3-year Passenger and Ramp contract with Qantas Airways covering Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.

The agreement, concluded in December and effective from 23rd March this year, had been in negotiation for more than 6 months and its conclusion represents a major boost for Menzies Aviation in the region.

“It’s terrific to finally secure this major contract with the national carrier of Australia,” said Stuart Key, VP Commercial - Oceania & SE Asia. “Qantas are a prestigious client and this is a huge success for our New Zealand business.”

Shortly after finalising the deal, agreement was also reached between our subsidiary Skystar Airport Services and Jetstar Airways to extend our existing Passenger & Ramp business in Christchurch, Dunedin, Perth, Hamilton Island and Proserpine for a further 3 years.

Alistair Reid, SVP Oceania & S/E Asia commented: “We are delighted to extend our coverage with the Qantas group and given we have other existing business with them in the UK, Americas and South Africa it truly is a global relationship of which we are very proud.”

On the opposite side of the world, Menzies Aviation has been awarded a 3-year contract to handle American Airlines flights at Heathrow Terminal 3, the carrier’s biggest single hub outside the USA. Under the agreement, which will cover 6,500 turns annually, we will begin pushback and towing services in February with ramp-handling commencing in May.

“Heathrow is a strategically important location for American Airlines, so we’re proud to be selected as their handler here,” said John Henderson, VP - LHR. “We’ll look to repay their faith in us with a first-class service from February onward.”

Icelandair have also reached a new agreement with us at Heathrow, extending our relationship there for a further 5 years - and demonstrating their faith in Menzies Aviation to help them successfully transition operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 in March 2015.
