Washington, D.C.—The Regional Airline Association (RAA) "RAA strongly supports today's FAA final rule announcement requiring U.S. carriers to use Safety Management Systems (SMS) in an effort to continue keeping our skies the safest in the world," said RAA President Roger Cohen. He underlined the association's 29 airline members have been voluntarily implementing SMS long before it became a requirement and work closely with other aviation stakeholders to identify and inventory best practices and share this information collectively. "Aviation safety, by its very nature, is a shared responsibility, and many of our members participated in the FAA SMS pilot program," added Cohen.
