Scandinavian Success For Menzies Aviation

Seven-year deal with Norwegian Airshuttle includes ground handling in Oslo and Copenhagen while renewing partnership in Gothenburg.

Menzies Aviation is delighted to have deepened its existing partnership with Norwegian Airshuttle (Norwegian). Under the agreement, which lasts for 7 years, we will commence handling in Oslo and Copenhagen whilst renewing our partnership in Gothenburg.

These contracts are a huge vote of confidence in Menzies Aviation and are very significant for our Scandinavian business. From 1 April 2015, we will be responsible for more than 55,000 Norwegian turns per year which equates to 46% of the airline’s traffic in Scandinavia, their home market.

The announcement strengthens our existing relationship with Norwegian, Europe’s third-largest low-cost carrier, for whom Menzies Aviation is already handler in Alicante, Amsterdam, Budapest, Los Angeles, Murcia, Nice and Orlando.

Bjorn Erik Barman-Jenssen, SVP Ground Operation, In-flight Services & Cargo for Norwegian, said:
“We’ve been impressed with the quality, consistency and cost-efficiency of Menzies Aviation’s service throughout the years of our partnership. The strength of that offer made it easy to trust them with some of our key Nordic locations, and we’re happy to have reached this milestone agreement.”

Jeremy Stafford, CEO of John Menzies Plc, said:“This win will give us the platform to build a sustainable Scandinavian business with improved future earnings. I am delighted to be extending our partnership with Norwegian and I’m proud of the way our team handled this tender process. I’d like to be first to offer them my congratulations.”
