NEW YORK (December 22, 2014) - FlightSafety International announces that it will offer training for the Airbus EC145 helicopter. The design and manufacture of the FlightSafety FS1000 simulator for the EC145 is well underway. It is expected to receive Level D qualification and enter service at a FlightSafety Learning Center early in 2016.

“Our significant experience in providing training for helicopters will ensure that operators of the Airbus EC145 receive the highest quality courses that meet their specific operational needs and mission requirements,” said Daniel MacLellan, Vice President, Operations.

“The advances in technology incorporated into the FS1000 simulator FlightSafety is building for the Airbus EC145 are designed to replicate the exact flight and performance characteristics of the helicopter,” said John Van Maren, Vice President, Simulation. “Our Customers will benefit from the advanced highly integrated systems and features FlightSafety has developed specifically for use in our Level D qualified simulators.”

The new simulator will be equipped with FlightSafety’s industry-leading VITAL 1100 visual system and Crewview glass mirror with 200 x 60 degree field of view and 60 inch electric motion base.

The unprecedented fidelity and levels of detail offered by the VITAL 1100 visual system significantly enhance training by providing highly detailed mission specific imagery with vastly improved scene content and exceptional environmental effects. VITAL 1100 provides system resolutions that are over 12 million pixels for a typical three channel out the window field of view of 200 degrees horizontally. This increase in resolution capability offers a substantial improvement in visual acuity.

FlightSafety’s FS1000 simulators feature tightly integrated computer hardware and software across subsystems which allow for more accurate and higher fidelity simulation. It offers the latest multi-core 64-bit architecture and the supporting real-time tools. The FS1000 also features FlightSafety’s all new multi-function Instructor Operating Station designed to enhance the effectiveness of training by providing instructors with a highly productive and efficient work space equipped with an intuitive interface, scalable graphics, and large multi touch displays.

Training for the Airbus EC135 helicopter is currently offered at FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Dallas, Texas. FlightSafety will open a new Learning Center in Colorado in 2016 that will provide training for the Airbus AS350 B2, Airbus EC130T2 and Airbus EC135.
