Avfuel Names Utah-based Charter Pilot Ryan Knopf As 2014 AVTRIP Scholarship Recipient

Nov. 18, 2014
Knopf will receive $2,000 to put toward the continuing aviation education of his choice.

Avfuel Corporation named Ryan Knopf, a charter pilot who flies a Challenger 300, as the recipient of the 2014 AVTRIP Scholarship. Knopf will receive $2,000 to put toward the continuing aviation education of his choice.

Awarded annually, the AVTRIP Scholarship was established in 2000 as a means to inspire current and aspiring aviators to continue to pursue their passion for the industry. Past winners have used scholarship funds to obtain ratings and certifications, enroll in business or management-focused programs, or further safety or mechanical training. Knopf plans to put his award toward the completion of his B.A. in Aviation Administration from Utah Valley University.

“I can't thank Avfuel enough for offering this scholarship. There aren't many scholarship options for working professionals - most require full-time student status,” Knopf said. “With my heavy flying schedule and family life, full-time isn't an option for me. Thank you for offering this award to those who don't fit the mold of the traditional college student.”

The scholarship committee admires Ryan’s dedication to furthering his education and broadening his aviation experience,” said Marci Ammerman, Avfuel Vice President, Marketing. “We found his application and his story inspirational. Avfuel is thrilled to be able to assist Ryan in the pursuit of this goal.”

In addition to the $2,000 scholarship awarded to Knopf, Avfuel awarded $500 in scholarship funds to runner-up Michael Hughes, a corporate pilot who will put his award toward an aviation management program.

Avfuel and AVTRIP accept scholarship applications year-round. The 2015 scholarship application will be posted within the coming weeks. Visit avfuel.com/avtrip for more information and to download application materials.
