President and CEO Pete Bunce today praised the confirmation of Violeta Bulc as European Commissioner for Transport by the European Parliament.

Brussels – General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) President and CEO Pete Bunce today praised the confirmation of Violeta Bulc as European Commissioner for Transport by the European Parliament. A successful businesswoman, Bulc recently became Deputy Prime Minister in her native Slovenia before being nominated to be part of the incoming European Commission. She will officially begin her new role on 1 November.

“We congratulate Violeta Bulc and look forward to working with her in this important position as Europe continues to emphasise the importance of general aviation,” Bunce said. “We urge the new Commissioner to make proportionate, risk-based rules the cornerstone of Europe’s transport strategy, so that sectors such as general aviation can flourish without overly burdensome regulations. This is the key to the development of a sustainable, safer aviation system in Europe. We are confident that Bulc’s successful business background will give her a strong appreciation for the need to provide manufacturers with the appropriate framework to efficiently bring their new safety-enhancing products to market, thus facilitating job creation and wider economic growth.”
