Honeywell and Deer Jet Establish First APU Service Center in China

ORLANDO, Oct. 20, 2014 – Honeywell Aerospace (NYSE: HON) has teamed up with Deer Jet, the largest business aviation operator in Asia Pacific, to offer in-country access to maintenance service for Honeywell’s auxiliary power units, saving time and costs for operators. The two companies announced the partnership today at the Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. The partnership marks the first line maintenance service center in mainland China for Honeywell since the company entered the business and general aviation market in the country. The auxiliary power unit system provides primary or backup electrical power for environmental, cockpit and hydraulic systems during flight.

Chinese business aircraft operators will now be able to obtain service promptly in China instead of either calling on an out-of-country mobile team or traveling out of country to areas like Hong Kong or Singapore. This will be highly beneficial in saving fuel and reducing aircraft downtime, ultimately saving costs. In addition, the new maintenance service center will be able to provide auxiliary power unit (APU) service to international flights in transit. Customers of the Honeywell Maintenance Service Plan (MSP), a comprehensive maintenance program, will now be able to enjoy the full benefit of MSP in the region with the new APU line maintenance service center.

“Honeywell is well-positioned to support the current business jet fleet in China and those that will enter service over the next few years in the Asia Pacific region,” said Andy Gill, Business and General Aviation business leader, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. “Deer Jet and Honeywell share the same core value of excellence in customer service. This new maintenance capability will strengthen Honeywell and Deer Jet’s partnership to support the growing business aviation market in China.”

“Honeywell has a strong reputation in developing and maintaining world-class APUs,” said Zhang Peng, president, Deer Jet. “The in-country APU line maintenance capability will deliver significant benefits to the business and general aviation market in China and help support China as it rises in the global value chain.”

Proven Reliability and Best-in-Class Service

Honeywell APUs are found on many aircraft worldwide and are available in 20 basic models and 339 variants. Since 1952, Honeywell Aerospace has delivered more than 93,500 APUs, used in more than 456 applications. In 2009, the Honeywell APU played a critical role in the emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in New York’s Hudson River, ensuring the safety of 155 passengers onboard.

Particularly in business aviation, for decades aircraft owners have relied on Honeywell’s MSP for no-risk APU maintenance budgeting, predictable maintenance costs and protection against arbitrary rate escalations, giving aircraft operators the confidence to fly without unexpected high maintenance costs while receiving the best possible service.
