Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Rebrands Fleet

Oct. 22, 2014
Embry-Riddle hired Scheme Designers to help design a scheme that would meet their brand standards and assist in visually promoting the University’s flight program.

October 22, 2014 – NBAA, Orlando, Florida.   The annual National Business Aviation Association Exhibition and Convention is a perfect opportunity for Scheme Designers (NBAA Booth 3929) to highlight the extraordinary efforts of their customer, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and their aggressive approach to branding their flight training program.  There’s a buzz on the Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as new Cessnas and Pipers begin arriving with brand new paint schemes.  38 aircraft in all, 22 at the Daytona Beach Campus and 8 at the Prescott campus, are brandishing the new livery.  As the fleet is refreshed completely in the coming years, all ERAU aircraft will sport the new scheme.

Embry-Riddle hired Scheme Designers to help design a scheme that would meet their brand standards and assist in visually promoting the University’s flight program.  Together, Scheme Designers and ERAU matured several schemes, which went to an online survey and several thousand students and alumni weighed in on their favorite candidate.  The winning scheme is now being incorporated as their single-engine fleet is replaced at both campuses for their approximately 1,400 flight students.   Over time, ERAU will replace their fleet of 72 single-engine aircraft with new Cessnas and Pipers with the new, eye-catching livery.

The paint scheme of a fleet of aircraft, be it in the flight training arena, or in airline or corporate operations, sets the personality for the entire organization.  Scheme Designers owner Craig Barnett commented that “Embry-Riddle’s new theme evokes the feeling of fluid motion and soaring flight.  The scheme complements the beautiful lines of the Cessnas and Pipers and reinforces the University’s reputation for excellence, reliability, and quality.”  Whether an organization has a fleet of one aircraft, or 100, the paint scheme is a critical component of the brand strategy.

ERAU Flight Department Chair, Kenneth Byrnes said, “Working with Scheme Designers has been a pleasure; their work is modern, professional and timely.  Not only did Scheme Designers develop the scheme for our main Cessna 172 fleet, they were also able to modify it for our low-wing Piper Arrow and our mid-wing Piper Aerostar.  There is no doubt that we have the best paint scheme in the business!”
