SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, Oct. 9, 2014 — Champion GSE, an industry-leading producer of engine stands, containers and affiliated ground support equipment, announced it has launched the LM2500 engine Universal Driver Skid (UDS), which includes a shipping stand and engine maintenance dolly. The new UDS supports Champion GSE’s customers who are seeking ways to more efficiently and cost effectively test and transport LM2500 engines.

The maintenance dolly included in the UDS features a height-adjustable rail system and hydraulic lift to accommodate test bed height. The dolly boasts locking mechanisms for the rail system, spring-loaded casters, a pavement traveling speed of 3 mph, and the capacity to support approximately 20,000 pounds. The UDS also includes a shipping stand equipped with an air ride kit designed to be used in conjunction with non-air ride equipped tractor trailers for use in more remote areas of the world that do not provide access to air rider trucks.

“Realizing the significant impacts both a redesigned maintenance dolly and air ride kit addition could have on test times and overall transportation- and maintenance-related costs, Champion GSE worked closely with our customers to determine the improvements that would make the biggest difference,” said Todd DeVore, Champion GSE vice president and general manager. “This solution will help improve the average test time for an LM2500 engine, which is now approximately one day, and also has the capability to help meet OEMs’ demands to quickly and safely deliver engines to market.”

The shipping stand’s open configuration also allows for easier access to the engine for maintenance.

“With several new GEnx product launches in 2014, Champion GSE is proud to release a new product that adds to our LM2500 maintenance and shipping support portfolio as well,” said DeVore.

Earlier in 2014, Champion GSE debuted a dual-purpose engine stand for GEnx-1B and -2B engines as well as a new stand for small aircraft engines up to 600 pounds.
