Baldwin Aviation Announces SMSTransport Program Designed for EMS Industry

Oct. 8, 2014
The program offers specialized risk assessments, safety reports, and checklists as common elements of the safety package for each area and addresses specific key elements for aviation, clinical and ground ambulance groups.

Hilton Head Island, SC— Baldwin Aviation, a recognized leader in Safety Management System (SMS) programs for aircraft operators, has announced a new SMSTransport™ program designed specifically for the Emergency Transport Service (EMS) industry that also includes safety issues and concerns faced by clinical and ground ambulance operations as well.  Introduced at the recent Air Medical Transport Conference in Nashville, Tennessee in September, “SMSTransport™ is designed to treat all three groups--aviation, clinical and ground ambulance--together as one unit rather than individual siloed operations,” said Don Baldwin, president of Baldwin Aviation.  “By using similar tools and terminology, we can help clients better understand cross-functional responsibilities and enhance the Safety Culture in all divisions.”

The program offers specialized risk assessments, safety reports, and checklists as common elements of the safety package for each area and addresses specific key elements unique to each group that assist clinicians and EMTs in complying with government and commercial auditing standards.  “It became very apparent at AMTC that the type of all-inclusive management services we provide our clients is imperative in the extemely challenging environment of emergency medical operations.  Locally diverse regulatory conditions and resources compounded by widely variable types of equipment and facilities make this industry an extremely difficult one in which to establish consistent safety management standards.”

Built on the foundation of experience providing flexible, customizable and intuitive SMS programs for fixed and rotary wing aircraft operators  as well as Maintenance and Repair Operations (MROs), Airports, Maritime and Ground Transportation operations, Baldwin combines expertise with personal sensitivity to meet the unique challenges facing emergency medical responders.    “Customization, easy-to-use, highly-flexible software and unparalleled customer support have allowed us to offer this package to the EMS industry,” Baldwin concluded.

Founded in 2004, Baldwin became the only IS-BAO registered SMS implementer in 2007, followed by Stage II registration in 2010.  In 2013, Baldwin successfully met the requirements for a Stage III audit.    In 2012, Baldwin became the 1st IS-BAO Support Services Affiliate (SSA) - further supporting Baldwin's leadership by providing the assurance that Baldwin SMS programs meet regulatory compliance requirements.   Visit www.BaldwinAviation.com for more information.
