ORLANDO, FL – October 1, 2014 – In order to keep maintenance professionals current on the basics and beyond in modern maintenance management, Paul Lachance, president of Smartware Group, Inc., will lead a CMMS workshop on “Mastering Maintenance Management Essentials” at the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals’ (SMRP) Annual Conference. More than 1,000 attendees are expected to attend this year’s conference – the premier event for maintenance and reliability professionals – which takes place at the Hilton Orlando in Lake Buena Vista, FL, October 20-23. Smartware Group is a Silver Sponsor at this year’s event, and will be hosting an exhibit booth, #204, during show hours.

Reflecting the conference theme, “Educate, Equip, Excel,” Lachance’s workshop is designed to give maintenance technicians, coordinators, and managers hands-on experience with the latest technology available to them – including Smartware Group’s award-winning Bigfoot Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The latest editions of this solution underwent a user interface design transformation, along with significant feature enhancements, in June of this year.

“It’s been shown time and time again that effective maintenance management solutions increase uptime while cutting costs and saving energy,” Lachance said. “Whether an organization is currently using a maintenance management or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution or nothing at all, it’s important to get up-to-date on the most effective technology and best practices for meeting today’s maintenance challenges,” Lachance said. “That’s what this workshop is about.”

The workshop agenda will include perfecting daily maintenance tasks – submitting requests, assigning work orders, and re-ordering spare parts – while also touching upon advanced capabilities, such as Key Performance Indicator (KPI) development, report designing, and more.

In addition to addressing maintenance management fundamentals, the CMMS workshop will cover complex issues such as managing relationships with regulatory agencies, prioritizing work orders, and optimizing maintenance practices in a business environment that increasingly relies on mobile technology.

Workshop attendees are invited to bring a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to Workshop 15, scheduled for Thursday, October 23 at the SMRP Conference.
