It has received the Gold Award in the Safety Management System category of the 13th annual Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health (HKOSH) Awards.

(Hong Kong, 11th September 2014) Hactl – Hong Kong’s largest cargo handler – has received the Gold Award in the Safety Management System category of the 13th annual Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health (HKOSH) Awards.

The HKOSH Awards are designed to recognise those organisations providing outstanding performance in workplace safety and health. Award winners undergo an exhaustive three-stage vetting process comprising a preliminary review, followed by a detailed assessment including site visit, and culminating in final judging by an independent panel of experts. A total of 312 entries were received from 120 organisations to compete for 9 categories of awards.

Kenneth Chan, Hactl’s Executive Director, Operation Services, received the trophy from The Hon Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, in front of a distinguished audience of 1,000 senior representatives from Hong Kong industry and commerce.

Says Mr. Chan: “At Hactl, safety is always our priority. Our most valuable asset is our staff, and cargo handling creates constant injury threats in the terminal and on the ramp. This Gold award is a reflection of the excellent safety regime which has been constructed at Hactl through management commitment and tremendous staff effort.”

“I thank everyone for their unfailing and constant commitment to planning and implementing safety initiatives. This is another great milestone in Hactl’s safety culture journey. But we will never be complacent; our goal is to achieve zero injury in the workplace.”
