ST Engineering’s Aerospace Arm Secures Wide-Body VIP Completion Contract

Aug. 13, 2014
Aircraft interior will be designed by AERIA’s own cabin design team.

Singapore, 13 August 2014 – Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) today announced that its aerospace arm Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd’s (ST Aerospace) VIP completions brand ‘AERIA Luxury Interiors’ (AERIA) has secured a nose-to-tail cabin completion contract for a wide-body VIP aircraft.  This follows shortly after clinching a green aircraft completion deal for a VIP 737 BBJ in February this year.

The aircraft interior will be elegantly designed by AERIA’s own cabin design team.  The wide-body aircraft will have a lifestyle-oriented floor plan personalised to the customer’s tastes and expectations, and outfitted with the finest materials and furnishing.

Cabin interior highlights include an exclusive entry way into the private suite, a comfortable master suite and a luxurious bathroom.  A state-of-the-art cabin management system is installed to allow complete control over the custom RGB mood lights and high definition large format TV screens, via an integrated iPad.  A humidification system and sound dampening package will be included to enhance passenger comfort throughout the flight.

Combining innovation with artisanal excellence, AERIA’s design team will be using its newly acquired 3D printer to create cabin features.  Among these is a custom ceiling which will enhance the aircraft’s interior design and provide a heightened spatial impression.  In addition to the decorative features, AERIA will deploy the 3D printing capabilities in the development of mock-ups, concept modelling proofs as well as production parts.  By using a technologically advanced 3D printer, operational efficiency will be increased while production time and overall costs are more effectively managed.

The aircraft is scheduled to arrive in AERIA’s remodelled hangar for cabin completion in the third quarter of 2014, with redelivery planned in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“We are honoured by the customer’s vote of confidence, entrusting their aircraft to AERIA.  At AERIA, our objective is to have our customers walk into private interiors which have been specially designed and crafted for them, where they feel ‘at home’ while in the air.  Like all our VIP completion projects, our design team will work closely with the customer to understand their lifestyle, tastes and preferences, to create a luxurious and relaxing living space in the aircraft.  With a highly experienced team, we are confident of delivering a delightful cabin experience for our customer.”

As part of the VIP completion programme, AERIA will be developing a Supplemental Type Certificate.  It will leverage affiliate company VT DRB Aviation Consultants’ Organisation Designation Authorisation, which allows the company to certify modifications to the aircraft more efficiently.

A division of US affiliate VT San Antonio Aerospace, AERIA specialises in the completions and refurbishment of both Airbus and Boeing jets.  AERIA is located in San Antonio due to its access to the skilled craftsmen and highly trained engineering talent pool in the region.  San Antonio is well regarded as the birthplace of large aircraft VIP completions in the US, with roots from the 1980s.  In addition to the human resources, a cluster of supporting businesses is located in the region, which bolsters AERIA’s efforts to deliver world-class quality in aircraft interiors.

Marketed as part of ST Aerospace’s MRO network, VT San Antonio Aerospace is a subsidiary of Vision Technologies Aerospace Incorporated (VT Aerospace). VT Aerospace, which owns six aerospace operating companies in Burlington, Washington; Mobile, Alabama; New Braunfels, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; and Wethersfield, Connecticut, is a subsidiary of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), the US headquarters of ST Engineering.
