OSHKOSH, WI / July 22, 2014 / GENERAL AVIATION NEWS / Avfuel Corporation will once again sponsor the Michigan-based Yankee Air Museum’s flyable B-17 aircraft – the Yankee Lady – at the annual EAA AirVenture. The Yankee Lady will be centrally located in Boeing Plaza, easily viewable and accessible to all airshow visitors.

The B-17, also known as the “Flying Fortress”, was a popular WWII bomber aircraft primarily used in the destruction of enemy war facilities. The Yankee Lady is one of only 10 B-17 airframes that remain flyable today. “The B-17 represents an important piece of military and aviation history, which is why Avfuel and the Yankee Air Museum are committed to bringing this incredible aircraft to the public at Airventure,” said Marci Ammerman, Avfuel Vice President, Marketing. “Visitors will be able to explore the aircraft and knowledgeable museum volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions. Avfuel is proud to play a part in delivering this unique experience to aviation enthusiasts.”

In addition to exploring the B-17, visitors to the Yankee Lady exhibit will be treated to cold water and useful items such as earplugs and sunscreen provided by on-site Avfuel staff. Special giveaways will take place at 2:00 p.m. July 29-August 01, when Avfuel representatives will be on the wing of the airplane tossing prizes to the crowd. “The enthusiasm at AirVenture is contagious,” said Ammerman. “Contributing to that excitement is an unbelievable experience. The B-17 is not only an important piece of American history; it exemplifies the spirit of the event and America’s never-ending fascination with aviation.”

The Yankee Air Museum’s B-17, the Yankee Lady, will be on display in Boeing Plaza July 28-August 03. Scheduled Avfuel giveaways and photo opportunities will take place July 29, 30, 31 and August 01 at 2:00 p.m. each day, with additional giveaways at unannounced times.
