Satellite Beach, FL / July 9, 2014 – The dedicated classrooms are part of a fully-functioning Cabin Communications Lab where Satcom Direct provides training in conjunction with FlightSafety International. The new training labs will be celebrated at a grand opening July 15.

Satcom Direct has worked with FlightSafety International’s Learning Center in Savannah, Georgia, since 2012 to develop and deliver training classes on satcom technology for operators of Gulfstream aircraft. The training is delivered in partnership with Gulfstream’s Total Technical Training (TTT) program. TTT provides dedicated resources and oversight to ensure that the FlightSafety and Satcom Direct training are technically accurate and meet Gulfstream’s high standards.

“We are proud to team up with Satcom Direct and FlightSafety to provide this hands-on training critical to the dispatch reliability of the aircraft and customer satisfaction in the cabin. Our customers and employees who have experienced this advanced training environment continue to provide positive feedback on the advantages this partnership has provided,” commented Tim Steinhauser, director of customer relations for Gulfstream.

The classes provide comprehensive training on aircraft cabin communications for maintenance technicians, corporate flight attendants and pilots. To best simulate the aircraft environment, participants train using equipment and technology by Satcom Direct, Inmarsat, Iridium and ViaSat, including use of the Satcom Direct router and multiple variations of Gulfstream cabin LAN installations.

“Students work with the exact same systems that are used in the aircraft including Gulfstream's Broad Band Multi-Link (BBML) Gen 3 Advanced Cabin Server,” said Scott Hamilton, Satcom Direct chief strategy officer. “The expanded facility allows for more participants to gain hands-on experience and be better prepared to support their passengers’ communications needs.”

“Our customers appreciate and value the training Satcom Direct and FlightSafety offer at our Savannah Learning Center,” said Charlie Harvich, Savannah FlightSafety maintenance center manager.
