Trine Aerospace & Defense Appoints Air Force Veteran Lee Taylor to COO Post

June 12, 2014
Assumes responsibilities for operations at the company's base at the Colorado Springs (KCOS) airport

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO June 12,  2014 --  Trine Aerospace & Defense announced that retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Lee Taylor has joined the company as chief operating officer.

Taylor will assume responsibilities for operations at the company's base at the Colorado Springs (KCOS) airport where it offers engineering, manufacturing, and aircraft modification on general aviation, commercial, and special mission aircraft, while also specializing in avionics and installation repair.  Taylor will report directly to Britt Ham, the company's president and chief executive officer.

Lee brings valuable experience in all areas of aviation," Ham said.  "He has a strong track record 28 years in the U.S. Air Force dealing with maintenance management.  His skills and experience complement our existing staff and provide  the management and leadership depth we will need to continue to expand and grow both our government and private sector customer base. His joining the company at this time is particularly timely since Trine Aerospace & Defense last month earned Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 145 approval as a certified repair station.  He knows how a maintenance shop should be run.  He has a clear vision of where we want to go.  I know we share very similar and sound business philosophies."

Taylor had a long and varied career in the U.S. Air Force leading maintenance and modification efforts across the spectrum from trainers to stealth fighters and bombers.  He served twice as a squadron commander and as an in-garrison group commander, leading up to 1,600 maintenance personnel.  He completed his maintenance career on the staff of Air Combat Command working maintenance and sustainment requirements for all Air Force bomber and stealth fighter aircraft.

Discussing his new appointment, Taylor said, "I am excited about the future of our multi-faceted company that offers unique aviation solutions to customers' needs.  I first began working with key TrineAero personnel 25 years ago when we were in the Air Force together.  I look forward to putting my experience and background to work to help us realize our full potential."

Earlier this year the company opened a 30,000 square foot commercial modification facility at Colorado Springs airport that provides engineered solutions that add enhanced capabilities to aircraft in support of Part 23 & 25 aircraft manufacturers, owner/operators, air carriers, and defense contractors that perform special mission aircraft integration and modernization, particularly in the form of avionics and electrical systems modification.  The company utilizes its own in-house engineers, technicians and FAA-DERs (Designated Engineering Representatives) to design install, and certify a wide variety of aircraft modifications.

Services include major alteration and major repair design, fabrication, analysis and FAA 8110-3 approval.  Other services include 24 month RVSM/Pitot Static System Inspection, 24 month IFR transponder certification, and VFR transponder inspections.  Trine is authorized dealer for Garmin International, Cobham, and Technisonic Communications.
