Avemco Seminar at Rochester Safety Stand Down Focuses on Risks of Running Out of Fuel

Frederick, MD. June 6, 2014 - Avemco Insurance Company Vice President, Mike Adams, will present "What Kind of Pilot Runs Out of Gas?" at the Rochester, NY, Safety Stand Down on Saturday, June 14. The Avemco forum is part of a government and private industry safety education seminar schedule designed for general aviation pilots and aircraft owners.

In this forum, Adams will illustrate how a flight's fuel looks right, until it isn't. The course content has been approved for the FAASTeam Pilot Proficiency Program (commonly known as WINGS) and counts as 1 Credit for Basic Knowledge Level 3. WINGS is a voluntary Pilot Proficiency Program offered by the FAA and Avemco is a proud sponsor of the program. To learn more about the FAA WINGS program read here.

In addition, Avemco policyholders who attend this seminar can qualify for Safety Rewards credits on their annual insurance premiums. Avemco's Safety Rewards Program recognizes the importance of pilots' training relevant to the type of aircraft and operations in which they actively fly. They are rewarded for that education with premium credits for Avemco-approved training.

"We are passionate about helping to promote the safety education of our general aviation pilots and aircraft owners. The Rochester Safety Stand Down brings together pilots, CFI's, aviation mechanics and the interested public to promote aviation and safety; we are proud to be a partner of this great event", notes Adams.

Mike Adams is Avemco's Vice President of Underwriting, an instrument-rated pilot, and a former President of the Oregon Pilots Association. His more than 30 years of combined experience with general aviation and the aviation insurance industry helps pilots to understand why many of Avemco' s coverages and underwriting decisions are designed to help keep them safe.
