Banyan Air Service celebrated its 9th annual AMT Day on Friday, May 23, 2014. AMT Day pays tribute to Charles E. Taylor, the first Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT), who built Orville and Wilbur Wright’s engine. This day is special for the aircraft technicians at Banyan as they are honored for their dedication to aviation and safety.
Dave Valenta, Banyan’s director of maintenance organized the lunch-time event and gave an overview of the accomplishments during the last year; including adding the Challenger 605 to the Banyan repair station.
An invocation was given by Albert Beltran, Banyan’s corporate Chaplain followed by Lou Homsher, chief inspector for turbine maintenance who spoke about the many contributions of the Banyan technicians.
Craig Huston, Banyan’s chief operating officer stated, “The work you do is very important. The pilots, owners and passengers may not know the name of the technician working on their aircraft, but they are putting their lives in your hands. You play an important role in their safety, and their trust in Banyan is a direct result of their faith and trust in you.”
