SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, May 27, 2014 – Berry Aviation, Inc. (BAI) announced today that it has been recognized for exemplary work on projects by Bechtel’s government services business unit at the company’s annual Bechtel Systems and Infrastructure Subcontractor and Supplier Recognition Awards. The event honors outstanding subcontractors and suppliers that supported Bechtel’s government services business unit in work such as environmental clean-up, national security science, construction, facility start-up, and nuclear security and operations during 2013.

As one of the approximately 13,000 subcontractors and suppliers that Bechtel works with each year, Berry Aviation, Inc. was recognized along with 19 other companies and specifically received the Key Small Business Award for its work providing airlift services to the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site at Kwajalein Atoll along the Pacific Rim. Working, as a subcontractor to Bechtel, Berry Aviation transported in excess of 30,000 passengers and 650,000 pounds of cargo during over 2,900 fixed and rotor-wing flight operations around the Atoll in 2013.

“Our subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers help strengthen the critical work we do through performance, value, and innovation,” said Craig Albert, President of Bechtel’s government services business unit. “These awards recognize those who not only met our high standards for quality—they went above and beyond for mission delivery.”

Berry Aviation’s Kwajalein Team was also recognized previously in 2013 as a Team of the Quarter for outstanding support, professionalism, and personal sacrifice during NASA’s Equatorial Vortex and Metal Oxide Space Cloud Experiments.

“Presentation of this Key Small Business Award from Bechtel speaks volumes about the program and team that BAI has built since standing up operations at Kwajalein in 2003,” commented Sonny Berry, President and CEO of Berry Aviation, Inc. “Our folks at the atoll have continued to go above and beyond. They provide a quintessential example of our company’s expertise in providing OCONUS and remote site airlift support.”
Companies were evaluated on multiple factors. These include: overall performance; the ability to deliver quality services/supplies on time; the ability to work collaboratively to meet milestones; and meeting expectations in aspects of safety, construction performance, technical expertise, and environmental compliance. Nominations were reviewed and approved by Bechtel Systems and Infrastructure’s Acquisition Services Managers and Project Managers. Final recommendations were approved by senior leadership.
