GENEVA…May 20, 2014… Signature Flight Support and Dallas Airmotive, BBA Aviation companies, have announced their participation as sponsors of The Amelia Project: Amelia Rose Earhart’s upcoming around-the-world flight first attempted by her namesake, Amelia Mary Earhart, in 1937. The world-class Signature Flight Support facility at Centennial Airport (KAPA) in Denver, Colorado has become the “Official Home of The Amelia Project” where Earhart will stage media and flight demonstration events.

“We are proud to sponsor Amelia and to have her project and foundation based at Signature Flight Support APA. Given Signature’s global network of 118 FBO facilities, partnering with her on The Amelia Project is a natural fit,” commented Maria Sastre, President and Chief Operating Officer of Signature Flight Support “Amelia is a tremendous role model for women everywhere, and especially young women with an interest in aviation.”

Doug Meador, President of Dallas Airmotive, explained some of the factors that motivated his company to get involved. “The original historic flight took place around the same time our company began. We have been in business for over 80 years and during that time we have been, and remain, committed to the aviation industry and dedicated in our support of our customers,” he said. “Amelia reflects these characteristics through her passion for aviation, her commitment to this flight, and her dedication to the future of the industry through her Fly with Amelia Foundation. We are excited to be a sponsor of this project to support Amelia and our sister company Signature Flight Support.”

“Working with Dallas Airmotive and Signature Flight Support on The Amelia Project has been a truly inspirational partnership. These two companies have shown me personally, how to work as a team to successfully plan and execute a safe and efficient flight around the world, how to inspire through connected leadership, and how to lead by example, by pushing limits and always improving. BBA Aviation understands the importance of inspiring the pilots of tomorrow through the leaders of today, which is why Dallas Airmotive and Signature Flight Support are fueling this flight around the globe, both literally and figuratively. I am proud to represent these companies at every level, from those executing daily tasks, to the outstanding leadership, and beyond. The Amelia Project would not be possible without this support. The best part is, they have been there right from the start, and I know, they will be there when I need them,” stated Amelia Earhart.

In just over a month, Earhart will begin her flight around the world that will recreate the historic, but ill-fated journey of Amelia Mary Earhart in 1937. Unlike her predecessor’s twin-engined Lockheed Electra, Earhart will fly a single-engine Pilatus PC-12NG turbine-powered aircraft.  The flight plan incorporates seventeen stops paralleling as closely as practicable the original route. Once complete, Earhart will be the youngest woman to have flown around the world in a single-engine aircraft.

Earhart will be attending EBACE and is scheduled to make an appearance at BBA Aviation’s booth (#4246) on Wednesday, May 21st at 1:30 p.m. Both Dallas Airmotive and Signature Flight Support will be following Amelia’s progress during the flight and will be providing updates and links to the flight via Facebook, Twitter (@DallasAirmotive and @SignatureFBO), LinkedIn, and Instagram.
