Dallas Airmotive and H+S Aviation Receive New Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) Appointments from Pratt & Whitney Canada

Dallas Airmotive received the North American DOF appointment supporting the PW200 and PW210, and H+S Aviation received the Middle East DOF appointment for the PW200, PW210, PT6C and PT6T.

Geneva, Switzerland -- Dallas Airmotive and H+S Aviation, both BBA Aviation companies, announced today that Pratt & Whitney Canada has awarded the companies Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) appointments for the repair and overhaul of several turbo shaft helicopter engine models. Dallas Airmotive received the North American DOF appointment supporting the PW200 and PW210, and H+S Aviation received the Middle East DOF appointment for the PW200, PW210, PT6C and PT6T. This appointment is in addition to H+S Aviation’s current PT6T DDOF license in Portsmouth, which the company has been supporting since June 2009.

Peg Billson, President and CEO of BBA Aviation Aftermarket Services, commented on the long-term implications of the award. “This is a significant step toward establishing ourselves as the world’s leading independent rotorcraft engine service provider,” she said. “This award coupled with our existing rotorcraft appointments and global resources invested to better serve our customers will allow us to support two-thirds of all civil helicopters in service by 2020.”

The rapidly growing global rotorcraft fleet plays into the companies’ focus on delivering top-notch customer service Billson explained. “We value being close to our customers. Dallas Airmotive and H+S Aviation share a 50-year relationship with Pratt & Whitney Canada. In addition, BBA Aviation has a 40+ year history of supporting the global rotorcraft market. Billson further clarified, “Our extensive rotorcraft experience and comprehensive knowledge of Pratt & Whitney Canada engines uniquely position Dallas Airmotive and H+S Aviation to support the customer requirements of these rapidly expanding fleets.”  Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Vice President of Customer Service, John Di Bert concurred, “Pratt & Whitney Canada is very pleased about these two new appointments and how they will further strengthen our company’s global network. We are positioning ourselves to provide the engine maintenance support our customers’ value in the growing turbo shaft market and to provide that support close to where they operate. This is especially true for the PW210 whose entry into service coincides with these appointments and will allow for quicker field responsiveness.”

The companies will build state-of-the-art facilities to support the new DOF appointments. North American rotorcraft support will be based at Dallas Airmotive’s recently announced facility at Dallas Fort-Worth Airport (DFW). The location of the Middle East facility will be finalized by later this year and will be developed and supported by the company’s Portsmouth, UK location. Billson said, “The establishment of a Middle East facility will be a welcome addition to our global service network. It will allow us to localize resources, expand our MRO footprint in the area, and continue to deliver the speed, expertise and industry-leading service customers expect from our companies.”

Both facilities are currently scheduled to provide repair and overhaul services by the end of this year with full test capabilities available in the first half of 2015.
