Duncan Aviation Pilots Efficiency Programs with Goal of Decreasing Maintenance Turntimes

May 15, 2014
To meet this goal, Duncan Aviation locations have implemented an employee suggestion program that focuses on efficiency and simplification.

LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation has developed several efficiency initiatives in 2014 with the goal of reducing project turntimes and getting customers back in the air faster.

“One of our main goals for 2014 is to explore our project efficiency with the hopes of cutting days off of major airframe work coming to a Duncan Aviation location and getting our customers back in the air faster while keeping our excellent customer service and same great-quality work,” says Chad Doehring, Airframe Manager for Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, Neb., facility.

To meet this goal, Duncan Aviation locations have implemented an employee suggestion program that focuses on efficiency and simplification. Doehring says suggestions have included simple things like moving tools and toolboxes to better locations to more complex items like electronic work order enhancements, all with the goal of giving technicians more time work on an aircraft and therefore completing the work faster.

In addition to general ideas for all aircraft project work, there are specific, focused targets for specific aircraft and inspections.

Rod Christensen, Airframe Manager with Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek,Mich., location, says that “shortening the scheduled turntime for Dassault inspections and EASy II provisioning are two very specific, strategic ideas which the company is working toward.”
