Both flight crews and maintenance personnel will learn what steps to take when faced with an inoperative system while in flight or on the ground.

Satellite Beach, FL / May 8, 2014 – Satcom Direct and FlightSafety International now will offer cabin communication training for flight crews and maintenance personnel at FlightSafety’s Teterboro Learning Center.

In an expansion of their training partnership currently in place in Savannah, Georgia, Satcom Direct now will offer cabin communications equipment training at FlightSafety’s Teterboro Learning Center. The curriculum demonstrates how communications equipment in the aircraft operates. This includes how the satellite functions and instruction on the use of cabin internet and voice systems for the flight crew. Maintenance personnel will learn to troubleshoot and maintain the systems.

After training, flight crews will be able to better assist their passengers with operating the systems. Both flight crews and maintenance personnel will learn what steps to take when faced with an inoperative system while in flight or on the ground.

“Students will have a hands-on experience just like they would in the aircraft,” said Scott Hamilton, Satcom Direct chief strategy officer. “They'll learn how to optimize computers and mobile devices for satellite internet and voice communications.”

To best simulate the aircraft environment, participants will train using the latest equipment and technology by Satcom Direct, Inmarsat, Iridium, and ViaSat, including use of Satcom Direct and CNX routers.

“Our customers appreciate and value the training Satcom Direct and FlightSafety offer at our Savannah Learning Center,” said Charlie Harvich, manager maintenance training, Savannah Learning Center. “We’re pleased to offer this training at Teterboro and to now support multiple aircraft types.”
