Alexandria, VA, May 3, 2014 – The following is a statement by National Air Transportation Association President and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks on the passing of Former House T&I Chairman Jim Oberstar:

“American aviation, and general aviation in particular, mourns the passing of one of its greatest proponents. From his position in Congress, Jim Oberstar championed the causes of aviation safety, modernization and infrastructure development. America owes a great deal to his unflagging interest and support in developing what is the world's best aviation system. NATA joins the rest of the aviation community in recognizing the accomplishments of this great legislator.”
