LA GUARDIA AIRPORT, New York (March 31, 2014) – FlightSafety International announces that Tianjin Airlines has selected its new VITAL 1100 visual system for installation on its Embraer E190 aircraft simulator. Tianjin Airlines is headquartered in Tianjin, People's Republic of China. The airline operates domestic scheduled passenger and cargo flights out of Tianjin Binhai International Airport.

“We are pleased that Tianjin Airlines has selected FlightSafety’s new VITAL 1100 visual system,” said Jon Hester, General Manager, Visual Systems. “This will be the first VITAL 1100 system to be installed in China. A growing number of airlines from China and the surrounding region are choosing FlightSafety’s visual systems and full flight simulators for the training effectiveness, quality, reliability, and value they provide.”

The computational performance of VITAL 1100 is up to five times greater than that of its predecessor, the Vital X. This significantly enhances training by providing highly detailed specific imagery with vastly improved scene content, exceptional environmental effects, and unprecedented levels of detail with dynamic shadowing and enhanced shading.

VITAL 1100 provides system resolutions that are over 12 million pixels for a typical three channel out the window field of view of 200 degrees horizontally. This increase in resolution capability offers a substantial improvement in visual acuity especially on short final in a fixed wing aircraft. Vital 1100 systems can be supplied with either LCoS or LED projectors that offer resolutions from HD to 4K, and 60 Hz or 120Hz refresh rates.

Level D qualification by the Civil Aviation Administration of China of the new Embraer E190 simulator and VITAL 1100 visual system built for Tianjin Airlines is expected in July 2014. Six other FlightSafety simulators equipped with the VITAL 1100 visual system have received Level D qualification from the United States Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency since it was introduced in 2013. Five additional Vital 1100 equipped simulators are scheduled to be qualified to Level D in the coming months.
