ANAHEIM, Calif., February 24, 2014 – Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a subsidiary of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI), on February 12 received Federal Aviation Administration certification of a new inducer filter technology that offers some of the best protection for Bell Helicopter 407 engines. Donaldson will display and begin taking orders for the Inducer Vent Filter (IVF) during Heli-Expo 2014 (Booth 1002) February 25-27, at the Anaheim, California, Convention Center. The IVF is certified and available for retrofit and for installation on new-production 407s.

The IVF provides protection at the centrifugal compressor bleed slot for the Rolls-Royce M250 engine that powers the Bell 407 – including the latest model, the 407GX. It offers operators of 407s equipped with Donaldson’s Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) system the added ability to help prevent costly contaminant and foreign object damage of the M250’s compressor, supplementing the substantial protection provided by the IBF system to provide 100% inlet protection. By reducing compressor wear, the IVF will also reduce engine maintenance and inspection costs and extend times between overhauls.

“The Bell 407 is one of the most popular helicopters flying today, performing missions that range from passenger transport and electronic newsgathering to emergency medical services and law enforcement,” said Eric Erickson, General Manager at Donaldson Aerospace & Defense in St. Louis. “The Inducer Vent Filter carries on Donaldson’s long tradition of fielding new technology that supports operator requirements while better managing the cost of doing so.”
