Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing Announces Two New Research Staff Leaders

CCAM welcomes Dr. Elizabeth Young-Dohe, Principal Scientist, and Dr. Keith Bourne, Process Engineer, each distinguished technical experts.

RICHMOND, VA., NOVEMBER 12, 2013 - The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) today announced two new scientists who have joined the applied research center to lead technology developments and initiate projects undertaken by CCAM's membership.

"CCAM welcomes Dr. Elizabeth Young-Dohe, Principal Scientist, and Dr. Keith Bourne, Process Engineer, each distinguished technical experts," said Bob Fagan, Chief Technology Officer. "These outstanding scientists, working collaboratively with the CCAM research staff and membership, will lead new innovations in manufacturing processes that drive commercial success."

Dr. Elizabeth Young-Dohe, Principal Scientist, specializes in materials characterization.  Prior to joining CCAM, Dr. Young-Dohe worked as a Materials Research Engineer at CoorsTek, Inc. where she focused on ceramic materials production, development and characterization.  Prior to working in the research department, she led Lean Six Sigma project teams in manufacturing improvement projects.  

Earlier she worked at NanoProducts Corp. as Director of Customer Service and AVX Corporation as a Senior Process Engineer.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical and materials engineering and a Ph.D. in materials science from the Colorado School of Mines.

Dr. Keith Bourne, Processes Engineer, has extensive experience in micro-machining process development, process monitoring and process modeling.   Dr. Bourne also has expertise in dynamics and controls, mechatronic systems, product design, and prototyping.  Prior to joining CCAM he worked for Foxconn Electronics Inc. as Development Engineer in electrical interconnect research and development.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He holds two patent applications and has been published in technical journals.
