WFS Wins Three-Year Contract With Jet2.com At MAN

New business with airline is WFS’ third contract win in its first six months of operations.

Worldwide Flight Services has won a three-year contract to provide ramp handling for Jet2.com at Manchester International Airport.

WFS commenced passenger and ramp handling at Manchester Airport in April 2013 after being awarded a ground handling license. This new contract with Jet2.com is WFS’ third contract win in its first six months of operations and was awarded following a competitive tender process.

Under the terms of the Jet2.com agreement, effective from Jan. 1, WFS will provide a full range of ramp services, including aircraft pushback and towing as well as baggage loading and unloading

Paul Mallard, vice president business development, ground handling at WFS, said: “This is a highly significant contract for our Manchester operation. It is a major airport for Jet2.com, which can operate over 170 flights a week at the airport during the peak summer period. As a result we will be increasing the size of our team in Manchester to continue to enhance our reputation as a reliable service provider at the airport.”

From Manchester, the airline operates scheduled flights to Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Greece, Hungary , Italy, Jersey, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey as well as special interest destinations including Christmas shopping breaks to New York.

The fast-growing leading leisure airline operates nearly 6,000 flights a year from Manchester, one of the eight airports Jet2.com serves in the UK. In 2012, network-wide, the airline flew 4.7 million passengers to and from more than 50 sun, city and ski destinations.
