AERO Friedrichshafen Combines All the Important Topics of General Aviation

Nov. 7, 2013
The next AERO will take place from April 9 to 12, 2014, on the exhibition grounds in Friedrichshafen.

Friedrichshafen, Germany – Ready to take off: For the 22nd time, the most important trade fair for general aviation will be taking place in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance from April 9 to 12, 2014. In 11 exhibition halls and on the static display between the trade fair and the airport, some 600 exhibitors from 30 countries will be presenting innovations in the industry. From ultralight airplanes and gyrocopters to twin-engine propeller aircraft, from helicopters to business jets: AERO Friedrichshafen shows the fascination of flying in all its facets. Aircraft engines, propellers, avionics, maintenance, services, and pilot accessories complete the range of offerings of AERO 2014.

The AERO Conferences directly address specialists and experts on current topics and are an important addition to the supporting program of the air show. With more than 100 conferences, presentations, and workshops, AERO brings together all the important topics in the industry on the four days of the trade fair. Experts from the regulatory authorities and pilot associations as well as the associations GAMA and LAMA will be talking about policy conditions, trends, and innovations in the industry.

For the third time, the focus will be on propulsion systems with a wide variety of designs and technologies. Everything is represented in the Engine Area, from piston engines to electric propulsion systems to jet turbines. The focus is also on maintenance and engine management systems as well as alternative fuels and fuel-efficient engines with lower emissions.

With the Avionics Avenue, an important exhibition focus is once again on the topic of on-board electronics. Here pilots learn all about flight control, management, communication, and navigation systems of different manufacturers. On the “Demo Stage for Mobile Cockpit Avionics” and in the “Headset Test Area,” visitors can try out the latest devices and applications.

The job fair AeroCareer General Aviation provides students and professionals with comprehensive information on career outlines as well as training and job opportunities in aviation. Whether candidates are aspiring to work as pilots, mechatronic technicians, or engineers – businesses and universities will be presenting themselves and inviting visitors to have a personal conversation about career opportunities in the industry. Workshops, as well as a large job board, will provide support for persons interested in getting started in aviation.

The use of civilian drones is playing an increasingly important role in general aviation. As part of the UAV/RPAS Expo as well as the special exhibition “Observe by Air,” unmanned and manned aircraft with various sensing and measurement technology will be presented. The UAV Expo will be rounded out by a UAV indoor flying display.

Within the AERO, the “e-flight expo” is already well established. Electrical, ecological, and evolutionary are the keywords for sustainable propulsion systems and aircraft of the future, whose aim is to fly using energy that is as free of pollution as possible.

AERO has worldwide appeal: The trade visitors – which include a high percentage of pilots – come from around the world to the international industry meeting of general aviation on Lake Constance. Everything that flies – except commercial airliners and military aircraft – is the focus of the AERO aviation fair.

For all companies that operate in general aviation, the air show is the number one aviation fair not only in Europe but worldwide. Project manager Roland Bosch: “AERO Friedrichshafen is an important international meeting of experts. This is where engineers, designers, and pilots meet and exchange experiences at the highest level. The fascination of flight can be felt in all areas.”
