Menzies South Africa has signed up South African Airlink to extend its cleaning contract to handle the airline's 19,000 annual ramp turnarounds at six domestic South African airports:

  • Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport.
  • Cape Town International Airport.
  • Durban King Shaka International Airport.
  • Port Elizabeth Airport.
  • East London Airport.
  • George Airport.

Since 2008 the ground handling service provider has cleaned the interiors of many of the BAe J41’s, BAe RJ85’s and Embraer ERJ135’s, but from February 2014 Menzies extend to work to include baggage, passenger loading and unloading as well as passenger busing.

Menzies has invested in eight new mid-size flat-floor airport buses which are in the process of being manufactured and will start to be delivered to South Africa in December. That will bring Menzies' total passenger bus fleet in South Africa to 24, transporting an estimated 4 million passengers per year.

This deal increases the size of the company's regional jet ramp and busing business in South Africa up to volumes of more than 40,000 turnarounds a year.
