FlightSafety Promotes Daniel MacLellan to Vice President, Operations

He will assume responsibility for operations at FlightSafety's worldwide network of Learning Centers from Greg McGowan, Senior Vice President, Operations, when he retires at the end of 2013.

LA GUARDIA AIRPORT, New York (November 5, 2013) - FlightSafety International announces that Daniel MacLellan has been promoted to Vice President, Operations. He will assume responsibility for operations at FlightSafety’s worldwide network of Learning Centers from Greg McGowan, Senior Vice President, Operations, when he retires at the end of 2013.

As Vice President, Operations, Dan will oversee the operational aspects of FlightSafety’s global Learning Center network. He will provide guidance and support for Center operations, the development, management and delivery of training programs, and interaction with aviation regulatory agencies worldwide.  Dan’s responsibilities at the Learning Centers will also include Customer service and satisfaction initiatives, business development, and the entry into service of flight simulators and other advanced training devices. He will report to David Davenport, Senior Vice President.

Dan has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility during his career with FlightSafety. He served as Worldwide Sales Director at FlightSafety Boeing, Regional Marketing Manager, Assistant Manager of the Wilmington Learning Center, Manager of the Dallas/Fort Worth Center, and most recently as Regional Operations Manager with responsibility for six locations. Dan received an Associate degree in Psychology from Quincy College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Suffolk University where he was named marketing student of the year. He also completed a Marketing Certification Program at the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton Business School as well as additional training for Entrepreneurship at Southern Methodist University. Dan holds a commercial pilot license with single and multi engine ratings, as well as a private glider rating.

Greg McGowan began his career with FlightSafety in 1979 as an Instructor at the company’s Bell Helicopter Learning Center and was promoted to Director of Training in 1981. He then served as Manager of the West Palm Beach Center, and then as Director, and later Vice President, Operations, with responsibility for FlightSafety’s Learning Centers. Greg was promoted to Senior Vice President, Operations, in 2012. He was a pilot and held the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force prior to joining FlightSafety. Greg graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a Master of Science in Technological Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
