October 29, 2013, Orlando, FL – AirIT, the leading provider of innovative information technology products and services to the air transportation industry, today announced it has signed a contract to implement its advanced platform for airport passenger processing technology, EASE™, at the Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE).

AirIT’s EASE™ (Extended Airline System Environment) is a virtualized shared use passenger processing technology solution that will enable EGE’s commercial carriers to deliver a consistent, optimized gate and boarding experience to their customers while delivering complete airline native business process functionality.

A key decision factor in choosing AirIT’s advanced platform for airport passenger processing technology was in avoiding the significant expense associated with the bricks and mortar expansion of EGE’s terminal building by providing enhanced operational flexibility. The EASE™ solution delivers this optimized terminal flexibility by enabling ‘any airline, any position, anytime’ passenger processing capabilities.

Greg Phillips, A.A.E., Director of Aviation at Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport, states, “We had already been evaluating shared use as a means to optimize our terminal in the future; when Air Canada’s decision to start new service to EGE in December 2013 was announced, it expedited our decision making.”

Adds Phillips, “Beyond our immediate peak-season needs, I anticipate that we will be able to use the capabilities that EASE™ brings to allow ‘any airline, any position, anytime’ passenger processing to augment our air service development business case by reducing an airline’s IT systems provision and support costs to enter our market.”

Remarks Betros Wakim, AirIT CEO and Chief Technology Officer, “The scalability of the AirIT advanced platform for passenger processing technology makes sense for airports like Vail/Eagle County Regional. The new air service plans from Air Canada created a compelling event for EGE that required the airport to look to contemporary technology in an effort to optimize the operational efficiency of the terminal facility. We are very pleased to work with EGE as a partner in delivering an advanced technology solution that will serve the airport’s and the airline business needs well into the future.”
