CLEVELAND, Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Aerospace Products International Inc. based in Memphis, Tennessee, a portfolio company of private equity firm Resilience Capital Partners, has acquired the assets of Avionics International Supply, Inc. further expanding its distribution product line into avionics and electronics.

Headquartered in Denton, TX - AIS is a wholesale distribution and repair services company, serving customers worldwide and has been in business since 1984.   AIS's main focus is the procurement and sales of new and used parts and supplies, avionics, electronics, tooling and test equipment along with many other supplementary services and programs that are all designed to support the aircraft repair facility.

AIS is well-recognized across the aerospace industry and is considered a top supplier in the avionics marketplace.  The business will be part of Resilience's API platform.  "Adding AIS's product offerings is another step toward our goal of creating the leading independently-owned parts distributor in the aerospace industry," said Steven H. Rosen, Co-CEO of Resilience.

The acquisition of AIS is part of the sixth platform investment in The Resilience Fund III, L.P.  In 2012, Resilience closed the Resilience Fund III, L.P., with $222.5 million of committed capital.

Kenneth C. Ricci, a Resilience co-investor, longtime aviation entrepreneur and Chairman of Flight Options and Directional Aviation, and Ulf Buergel, both operating partners with Resilience, will oversee the investment in AIS, working closely with the firm's management team. "We will continue to look for opportunities to acquire and integrate strong complementary businesses that further strengthen our ability to serve our customer's needs," said Buergel.

Resilience is an active investor in the aerospace industry. Current aerospace portfolio company investments include Flight Options, Sentient, Nextant, Aerospace Products and now Avionics International.

"Resilience will continue to deploy capital in both manufactured product and service companies in the aerospace sector. We will not only be providing significant capital in support of API and Flight Options but are always actively looking for new interesting platform investments in the aerospace industry," added Steven Rosen.
