IKHANA Receives STC/PMA Approval for RWMI DHC-6 Twin Otter Re-Life Nacelles

This new STC provides a method that allows time expired DHC-6 engine nacelles to be re-manufactured to zero time, providing a new 45,000 hour/90,000 cycle fatigue life limit.

IKHANA Aircraft Services (IKHANA) has received FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) for their RWMI DHC-6 Re-Life Nacelles. This STC is IKHANA’s latest addition to its catalog of value-adding Twin Otter modifications. This new STC
provides a method that allows time expired DHC-6 engine nacelles to be RE-MANUFACTURED to ZERO TIME, providing a NEW 45,000 hour/90,000 cycle fatigue life limit with applicability to all DHC-6-100/-200/-300 Series Twin Otter airplanes. “Just like the fuselage, wing boxes, and flight controls, the nacelles are life limited assemblies that require tracking and expire upon reaching 66,000 hours or 132,000 cycles of use,” states Mr. John Zublin, President/CEO of IKHANA. “IKHANA has methodically pursued the Re-Life of all of the Twin Otter major
structural life-limited components. The RWMI DHC-6 Re-Life Nacelle is the final piece of the Re-Life puzzle. We can now offer a fully Zero Time Re-Life airplane.”

The original -100, -200, and -300 Series Twin Otters, produced from 1965 to 1988, have a mandatory structural fatigue life limit of 66,000 hours/132,000 cycles for the fuselage, flight controls, and nacelles. As FAA PMA approved parts, IKHANA’s RWMI DHC-6 Re-Life Nacelles
are interchangeable with factory-new assemblies. IKHANA’s line of Re-Life products now provide for the complete Re-Life, with regulatory approval, for all of the Twin Otter’s major structural assemblies.

IKHANA (and its predecessor, R.W. Martin, Inc.) has manufactured over 100 ship sets of RWMI DHC-6 Re-Life Wing Boxes and expects strong demand for the latest STC products. IKHANA’s Re-Life aircraft are customized for operations supporting executive transport, regional/commuter
airlines, and special missions. Available options include increased gross weight capability, enhanced air conditioning, glass cockpit avionics, VIP amenities, cargo handling, camera hatches, and integration of surveillance/patrol systems.
