LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation and Universal Avionics are pleased to announce that operators interested in seeing a Falcon 900B with the first EFI-890R cockpit retrofit upgrade can walk through the aircraft at the static display during the Convention and Exhibition of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). The aircraft will be on static display at Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas from October 22-24 and will also showcase a newly designed interior, new paint and new cabin/management/entertainment system; all completed by Duncan Aviation. Representatives from Duncan Aviation and Universal Avionics will be on hand to answer questions and give tours of this beautifully transformed aircraft.

The EFI-890R cockpit upgrade replaces 25 older instruments and significantly improves reliability and situational awareness. The Duncan Aviation/Universal Avionics cockpit upgrade presents a simple concept: Replace only the most critical components to maximize upgrade efficiency. This straightforward solution provides significant weight and power savings, increases reliability and reduces maintenance costs. The operator will realize less downtime and experience maintenance cost savings while receiving the benefits of the latest advancements in avionics technology comparable to current production OEM aircraft.

The avionics suite has five high-resolution Universal EFI-890R 8.9” Advanced Flight Displays, including Engine Interface Units (EIU) that replace analog gauges. Dual Universal UNS-1Fw Flight Management Systems (FMS) provide Wide Area Augmentation System/Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (WAAS/LPV) capabilities and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) capability. Dual Vision-1® computers provide Synthetic Vision and dual Application Server Units (ASUs) support procedural checklists, electronic documents (Edocs), Present Position (depiction) on approach plate overlays and external video capability.

“This is an exciting upgrade that offers the capabilities that operators have been asking for, as well as enhanced safety, and reduced operational costs,” said Duncan Aviation’s Senior Avionics Sales Representative Gary Harpster. “Universal Avionics and Duncan Aviation have a long-standing relationship and a history of providing excellent upgrades to aircraft operators. We are excited to provide this solution for the Falcon 900B.”

Through its Organization Delegated Authority (ODA), Duncan Aviation completed a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the EFI-890R upgrade.

In addition to the cockpit upgrade, Duncan Aviation completed several interior upgrades, including complete soft good refurbishment, new cabinet veneer, new Duncan Design Collection PSU overlay panels, new EMTEQ LED lighting, new drinkrails and pull-out sidewall tables, new hi-lo conference table from Enflite, new right-hand mid-cabin credenza/setee cabinet, new galley, new TIA coffee maker and microwave, new vanity, new natural stone counters and new hardware plating by Technocoatings. New winglets were installed prior to the aircraft getting repainted with paint provided by Akzo Nobel.

Duncan Aviation also installed Rockwell Collins’ Venue™ cabin management system, providing passengers a hi-definition cabin entertainment experience. The Venue CMS system includes the new Skybox™ providing an easy and convenient solution to watch the latest Hollywood movies and TV shows on demand on their Apple devices or the new hi-definition cabin monitors.
