ADB Airfield Solutions has marked a key milestone in the airfield ground lighting (AGL) industry, with the installation of over 500,000 LED AGL fixtures globally. This makes the company, which pioneered LED fixtures for AGL, a key leader in this segment. The achievement also reflects the universal acceptance of LED airfield lighting as the new standard in AGL as more and more airports switch to this energy-efficient technology to meet their sustainability goals.
“We were the first to introduce LED for airfield lighting just over a decade ago, and have since expanded the scope of this technology on the airfield,” said Christian Onselaere, CEO, ADB Airfield Solutions. “With new products such as our second generation LED lighting, and the LED Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), an advanced solution which raises the bar to even higher levels of performance and user friendliness, we continue to push the envelope and are well positioned in the industry as the LED AGL evolution gains momentum.”
ADB Airfield Solutions’ LED-based AD Lights portfolio is ICAO- and FAA-compliant, and offers up to 84% energy savings vis-à-vis conventional lighting, enabling airports to reduce carbon emissions. Resilient in all weather conditions and low-maintenance, LED AGL lasts longer, improves airfield availability and decreases costs associated with maintenance and runway shutdowns. As a result, the payback time for LED AGL from ADB is as little as two years or even less.
“Since our first LED trials at Brussels Airport, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in the US, airports around the world have come to realize our experience and competencies in this technology. This makes us the first choice for many of the world’s leading airports as well as a growing number of smaller category airports which rely on our LED offering to pursue their ‘green airport’ strategies,” added Christian Onselaere, CEO, ADB Airfield Solutions.
The company’s LED light portfolio is installed at leading airports around the world. London’s Heathrow Airport, the world’s busiest international airport has recently selected ADB’s LED lights for its southern and northern runways. In the US, Chicago O’Hare Airport which has more than 10,500 elevated taxiway LED fixtures (ETES), and Denver International Airport has close to 7,000 in-pavement taxiway LED fixtures from ADB. Other notable mentions include Charles De Gaulle Airport in France, Manchester Airport, UK, Frankfurt Airport in Germany and Treviso Airport, Italy.
