Menzies Expands At Aberdeen Airport

Sept. 9, 2013
Ground handling service provider grows with acquisition of Aero Handling at ABZ.

Menzies Aviation has successfully completed the takeover of the Aero Handling business at Aberdeen Airport (ABZ).

On Sept. 1, Kenny Nicol, Station Manager ABZ and his team commenced handling the Aero Handling portfolio of customers at Aberdeen. These customers include Loganair (‘Scotlands’ Airline’), British Midland Regional and Atlantic Airlines. This takeover has resulted in 50 new colleagues joining the Menzies team and increased the volume of aircraft turns handled by Menzies at ABZ by an additional 18 flights per day.

Having only established its ground handling business in Aberdeen in August 2012 (through the purchase of Airbase Flight Support), Menzies has now doubled the size of its station in just over a year.

Menzies has also won the Loganair contract at Edinburgh for five years, which adds an additional 10 flights per day beginning in October 2013, and renewed its contract with the airline at Glasgow for a five-year term.

These three stations fall under the remit of John Henderson, vice president, Operations North, and demonstrate a confidence in John and the Menzies team in Scotland to deliver a high quality service over a sustained period.
